Ingredients

  • 8 oz cream cheese softened
  • 1 tablespoon mayonnaise
  • 1 tablespoon sour cream
  • 1 cup shredded cheese cheddar and parmesan, or cheddar only
  • 1 cup bacon bits
  • 1/2 cup chopped toasted almonds
  • 1/4 cup chopped chives
  • 1 pinch cayenne pepper
Optional Garnish
  • Parmesan chips
  • Additional chopped chives

Method

  1. In a mixing bowl, combine the softened cream cheese, mayonnaise, and sour cream. Mix until smooth and creamy.
  2. Add the shredded cheese, bacon bits, toasted almonds, chopped chives, and cayenne pepper. Mix until everything is evenly incorporated.
  3. Place a 6-inch food ring on a serving plate and firmly press the cheese mixture into the ring, smoothing the top.
  4. Refrigerate for at least 15 minutes to allow the stack to set.
  5. Carefully remove the ring. Garnish with Parmesan chips and extra chives just before serving.
Parmesan Chips (Optional)
  1. Heat a non-stick skillet over medium heat.
  2. Sprinkle about 1/2 teaspoon grated cheese into the pan, forming a small circle.
  3. Let the cheese melt completely and cook until crisp.
  4. Transfer to a paper towel and gently bend while warm to shape.
  5. Repeat to make 4–5 chips.

Notes

  • Make sure the cream cheese is fully softened for the smoothest texture.
  • This cheese stack can be made up to 24 hours in advance; garnish right before serving.
  • If you don’t have a food ring, the mixture can also be served as a classic Million Dollar Dip in a bowl.
  • Almonds can be swapped for pecans, walnuts, or omitted if needed.
Serving Suggestions
Serve with crackers, toasted baguette slices, crostini, or fresh vegetables like cucumbers or endive leaves. This appetizer pairs especially well with sparkling wine, white wine, or a light red.
